In line with Section 6 of the Financial Crimes Commission Act (FCCA) 2023, which mandates the FCC to prevent and educate the public against financial crimes, the Education and Preventive Division is conducting a series of ongoing awareness and engagement sessions with key sectors. Yesterday, 18 February 2026, the Financial Crimes Commission organised a session in collaboration with the Mauritius Council of Social Service (MACOSS), the National Platform of NGOs in Mauritius. The session aimed to strengthen representatives of NGOs understanding of the FCCA 2023, sensitise them on emerging financial crime risks, and highlight practical measures to enhance transparency and accountability within their civil society organisations (CSOs). The session was highly interactive, with participants actively contributing to the discussions. Several questions were raised and comprehensive responses were provided, particularly regarding offences under the Act and the mechanisms for reporting suspected financial crimes. By engaging with civil society partners, the FCC strengthens a shared commitment to integrity and empowers CSOs to contribute actively to the prevention of financial crimes at the community level. Participants were further encouraged to follow the FCC on its social media platforms to remain informed of ongoing initiatives, guidance, and key updates.
