
The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) conducted an operation on 18 March 2026 at the residence of Mr Jean Linley Louis, a 34-year-old company director residing at Impasse Desvaux, Les Casernes, Curepipe. Mr Louis was arrested and provisionally charged with the following counts:
A. breach of sections 36(1)(b) and 38(3) of the Financial Crimes Commission Act 2023(Count 1); and
B. breach of section 36(1)(b) and 38(3) of the FCCA, coupled with section 44(1)(b) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Act (Count 2).
The charges relate to events that occurred on 18 March 2026 at Curepipe, where Mr Louis was allegedly found in possession of assets which in whole or in part, directly or indirectly represented the proceeds of a crime and where he, the said Jean Linley LOUIS, had reasonable grounds for suspecting that the said properties were derived in whole or in part, directly or indirectly from a crime.
Under Count 1, he is accused of unlawfully possessing cash amounting to MUR 138,175 and a BMW motor vehicle acquired for MUR 400,000.
Under Count 2, as person concerned in the management of DML Construction Ltd, Mr Louis is alleged to have been in possession of additional assets suspected to be derived from criminal activity. These include a Kia Sorento acquired for MUR 1,700,000 and a residential property located in Floréal, valued at MUR 7,000,000. In all assets worth approximately MUR 10 M were seized during the operation.
Investigation is ongoing.
