The Financial Crimes Commission Act 2023 ensures that both informers and witnesses are provided with robust protections and support to encourage their cooperation and maintain the integrity of financial crime investigations and prosecutions.
Anonymity and Confidentiality
Informers may remain anonymous to protect their identity. The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) takes all necessary measures to ensure the confidentiality of the informer’s identity.
Witnesses may remain anonymous if disclosing their identity could endanger their safety.
Protection of Informers/Witnesses
Informers/ witnesses who face threats or potential harm due to their cooperation are entitled to protection.
Informers/witnesses are provided upon request the status of their information.
The identity of the witness will also be protected except where it is necessary to divulge his identity to ensure that the matters to which the information relates are properly investigated.
