The Financial Crimes Commission (FCC) hosted two significant Senior Managers Workshops, organized by the International Anti-Corruption Coordination Centre (IACCC), from 15 to 19 April 2024 at the FCC Headquarters. These workshops were aimed at bolstering the capacity and skills of our Senior Managers in the Corruption Investigation Division.
Since joining the IACCC Associate Membership Scheme (AMS) in July 2020, the FCC has benefited immensely from this collaboration, engaging in transnational investigation cases and continuous capacity building. This series of workshops was a testament to our ongoing commitment to professional development and international cooperation.
The workshops were meticulously designed to cater to FCC officers, including Senior Investigators, Chief Investigators, and Senior Management. The primary objective was to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices in investigation management. By doing so, we aimed to enhance the participants’ ability to effectively respond to suspicions of financial crimes.
During the four-day intensive program, the following crucial topics were covered:
- Role of the Fraud Manager: Emphasizing the qualities of effective leadership and management in fraud investigation.
- The Fraud Investigation Model (FIM): A comprehensive approach to fraud investigation.
- Risk Management and Decision Making: Strategies to navigate and mitigate risks in investigative processes.
- Fraud Investigative Strategies: Techniques and methodologies for thorough and effective fraud investigations.
- FIM End Game Strategy: Planning and executing the final stages of fraud investigations.
- SAFCOM/ IIMARCH Models: Frameworks and models to enhance investigative operations and outcomes.
These workshops have significantly contributed to the professional development of our senior managers, equipping them with advanced skills and knowledge to lead their teams effectively. The insights gained from these sessions are expected to enhance our investigative processes and outcomes, ultimately strengthening our fight against financial crimes.
The FCC looks forward to continuing its collaboration with the IACCC and other international bodies to further our mission of combating corruption and financial crime on a global scale.
